In challenging economic times, adequate funding for afterschool is more critical than ever! Working parents need to know that their children are safe, secure after the school bell rings, and students need the life skills and knowledge that afterschool programs are uniquely able to provide. There are many ways that you can get involved and take action!
With only a few minutes of your time, you can:
- Sign-up to receive Bridges: RIASPA’s Monthly Newsletter.
- Send a message to Rhode Island’s legislators in Washington.
- Call or e-mail your state representative and state senator, and urge them to fund afterschool and summer programs.
- Write a letter to the editor supporting afterschool and summer programming.
With even more time, you can:
- Organize a site visit to your local afterschool program for your elected officials.
- Make sure afterschool and summer learning are key issues in local and statewide elections.
- Attend RIASPA’s annual Lights On Afterschool Breakfast of Champions in October.
